Summary
The one-week programme includes 5 (or 6) one-day hikes in the region of Mont-Blanc and Aguilles Rouges (Red Peaks) with average duration not exceeding 4–5 hours and at average altitude 2,000–2,600 m. Starting points for all hikes will be reached using different types of transportation, including train, cable car and lifts.

 

Hike 1 (in Mint Blanc region)
Route: Chamonix - Montenvers by cog railway – Glacier Mer de Glace (Sea of Ice) – Ice cave – Crystal gallery and Alpine Wildlife Museum - Signal Forbes (2,198 m) – Famous footpath North Balcony (Grand Balcon Nord) - Blue Lake (Lac Bleu, 2,299 m) – Le Plan de l’Aiguille (2,310 m) – down to Chamonix by cable car.
Walking time – 3.5 h

 

Hike 2 (in Aguilles Rouges region)
Route: Chamonix – Le Pra (Les Praz) – La Flegere (1,877 m) by cable car - White Lake (Lac Blanc, 2,352 m) – L ‘Index (2,385 m) – down to Les Praz by chair lift and cable car – Chamonix
Walking time – 4.5 h

 

Hike 3 (in Aguilles Rouges region)
Route: Chamonix – Planpraz (2,000m) by cable car – Le Brevent summit (2,525 m) – equipped footpath in the region of the Brevent summit – Col du Brevent (2,368 m) – Col Cornu Col du Lec Cornu (2,414 m) - Col de Gliere (2,461 m) – L’Index (2,385 m) – Les Praz by chair lift and cable car – Chamonix
Walking time – 5.5 h

 

Hike 4 (in Mont Blanc region)
Route: Chamonix – Argentiere by train – Le Grand Montets (3,297 m) by cable car – La Croix de Lognan (1,975 m) by cable car – Glacier Argentie (Glacier d’ Argentiere) – Argentiere village – Chamonix by train
Walking time – 3-4 h

 

Hike 5 (in Mont Blanc region)
Route: Chamonix – Les Houches by train – Bell View by cable car – Eagle nest (Nid d’Aigle) station (2,372 m) by cog railway – Refuge de Tete Rousse (3,167 m) – Eagle Nest station – Bell View by cog railway – Les Houches by cable car – Chamonix by train.

 

Tour in Mont Blanc region by cable car and bus
Route: Chamonix - Aiguille de Midi (3,842 m) by cable car – Crossing above the Glacier of Giant (Glacier du Geant) by cable car – Pte Helbronner (3,462 m) in Italy by cable car - return to Chamonix by bus through the Mont Blanc tunnel.

 

Travelling
The nearest airport is Geneva – around 70 km. From the Geneva airport, Chamonix can be reached by bus or by train (an open return bus ticket costs ˆ55). In case of using train, you need to reach the Sΰint Gervais-Le Fayet station, and then take a train to Chamonix.
